The program for this university research center was complex and detailed, and the site was peculiar and full of trees. The decision to divide the program into smaller buildings allowed for the preservation of the oldest trees. The shapes of these pavilions arose directly from manipulated images of the trees that could not be saved.

Then, the pieces/pavilions were arranged using software typically used to optimize the layout of shapes on laser-cutting plates. After testing different combinations and using the arrangement of the program fragments as a generative device, the project was born.
